A 28-year-old man appeared on Tuesday before the criminal court in Albi (Tarn).

He was suspected of having committed malicious acts targeting the Muslim community.

The mosque of Saint-Juéry (Tarn) had in particular been targeted by stone throwing, as was a pizza and kebab business or even cars, reports La Dépêche du Midi.

A couple of victims had recognized the son of their neighbors.

The man was arrested and taken into custody.

Clothes corresponding to those worn by the author on the CCTV images found.

Already known to justice, the suspect had denied the facts.

His father had indicated that he suffered from psychiatric problems and that he had been the victim of an attack committed by people of North African origin.

An expert report mentioned personality disorders and impaired judgment at the time of the events.

The young man was finally given a ten-month suspended prison sentence with an obligation to care and work and a ban on contact with the victims.

He will have to compensate them up to 4,000 euros.
