According to the survey, which is published in the Finnish daily newspaper Ilta-Sanomat, the majority of Finns do not want Finland to wait for Sweden to get its NATO membership.

"Sweden's cause is not ours," says Juho Rahkonen, responsible for the survey, in a comment on the results.

53 percent of the Finns who responded to the survey believe that the implementation of Finland's NATO membership must not depend on what Sweden's timetable looks like.

28 percent of the respondents think that Finland should join NATO at the same time as Sweden, while 19 percent have no opinion on the matter.

1,021 people from all over Finland took part in the opinion poll.
