During the meeting entitled "Nödrop från Upplandkustens fiskare" the future of fishing for small-scale coastal fishing was discussed.

One of the threats pointed out was industrial pelagic fishing.

- The situation we have today is a disaster.

We must reduce the large-scale pelagic fishing and move out the trawl limit, says Henrik C. Andersson, county fisheries consultant at the County Administrative Board in Stockholm County.

Sensitive area

The meeting was attended by researchers, politicians, the Norwegian Maritime and Water Authority but also professional fishermen from Åland.

- We have invited Åland to get a consensus.

Åland's sea is an extremely sensitive area and cannot withstand trawling on the large scale that it is today, says Tom Sundell.
