Cameroon: first arrests in the investigation into the assassination of Martinez Zogo

A statement signed by the secretary general of the presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, announces that a “ 

mixed gendarmerie-police commission of inquiry has been set up

 ”.

According to the press release from the presidency, " 

the investigations (...) have (...) made it possible to arrest several people whose involvement (...) is strongly suspected, others are still wanted

 ".

The press release does not indicate the identities or functions of the individuals concerned. 

According to the Cameroonian presidency, hearings are underway.

And the legal proceedings " 

will make it possible 

" to " 

limit the degree of involvement

 " of each (...) " 

involved in one way or another in the assassination of Martinez Zogo

 ". 

The presenter of the show Embouteillage on the private channel Amplitude FM was known and listened to in Yaoundé for his direct and vehement tone.

He denounced corruption and gave examples, cited names.

He had in particular looked before his death on the so-called affair of lines 65 and 94, budget lines on which an administrative investigation is in progress.  

The body of the radio host, star in Yaoundé, was found on Sunday January 22, a few days after his abduction in the capital.

He was in a state of composition and bore traces of violent abuse and rape.

This brutal death has been causing

shock waves

for two weeks in the country and beyond the borders of Cameroon.
