With nearly 10.5 million vehicles sold in 2022, Toyota is unquestionably the largest automaker in the world.

The Japanese giant is once again ahead of the Volkswagen group, which sold 8.3 million vehicles last year.

And with 1.12 million copies, it is the Corolla which largely dominates the ranking of the best-selling car in the world.

Electrical delay

But the first place of the Toyota group (which also includes the Lexus, Daihatsu and Hino brands) does not hide the colossal delay taken by the manufacturer in terms of electric supply.

The brand only launched its first 100% electric model, the bZ4X, last year.

A delay which should not, however, prevent it from continuing to monopolize the top of the podium thanks to its enormous volume of production in markets where electricity does not play a big role.
