The fight will not stop, despite the lost battles.
Three associations, Acenas, Fracture and Friends of the Earth, joined by the city of Lyon, have decided to pursue the procedure initiated against the project to set up an Amazon warehouse near the Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport.
For nearly four years, these associations have been fighting against the construction of this 160,000 m2 building by Goodman in Colombier-Saugnieu.
They demand “the cancellation of the project to prevent its impacts on the environment and employment in the territory”, they write in a press release.
A battle supported by Grégory Doucet since December 2020
It was after a first defeat before the administrative court that the mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet, decided to join the movement in December 2020. He announced at the time: "It is urgent to make economic choices and protect our local businesses that create jobs locally".
He also assured that "Amazon's development model is not the one for which we were elected".
At the end of September 2022, their request was once again rejected by the Lyon court, which issued an unfavorable opinion on appeal.
