An investigation was opened and entrusted to the judicial police after the discovery of the body of a 98 or 99-year-old woman on Tuesday in her pavilion in Melun (Seine-et-Marne).

An autopsy should make it possible to date the death and identify the causes.

The investigations revealed traces of break-in, reports Le Parisien.

The house was also searched.

Nothing, however, formally indicates that burglars were the cause of the death of the nonagenarian.

The alert had been given by neighbors who had not seen the victim since confinement.

A local resident said she thought the old lady had gone to live in an nursing home.

She explained that the victim, known for his mistrust, received regular visits from his grandson.

The witness, however, no longer saw the latter after 2021. She explained that she then asked the young man for news of his grandmother and that he replied that she was fine.

The investigators began to interview the inhabitants of the district and were to contact the relatives of the nonagenarian to inform them of her death.
