Reuters news agency quoted two Sudanese government sources - today, Thursday - that an Israeli delegation arrived in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, to discuss the normalization of relations between the two countries.

The two sources - who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity - added that the visit is part of an exchange of visits between Sudan and Israel, and includes discussing reaching and signing an agreement for normalization.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said - today, Thursday - that Foreign Minister Eli Cohen made a historic political trip today.

And it announced - in a circular - a press conference that Cohen will hold this evening at Ben Gurion Airport, near Tel Aviv, upon his return from a historic political trip.

It was not previously announced that the Israeli foreign minister had left Israel, nor did the Ministry of Foreign Affairs specify the destination of this historic trip.

For his part, Axios reported that the Israeli Foreign Minister met today in Khartoum with the head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.

In the same context, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that an Israeli private plane arrived today, Thursday, in Khartoum.

"An Israeli executive plane landed shortly before in the capital, Khartoum," the authority's correspondent, Itay Blumenthal, said - in a tweet via Twitter.

The broadcasting authority quoted - earlier - an unnamed Israeli official that Sudan is on its way to officially sign the Abraham Accords (for normalization).

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz had quoted an Israeli official - describing him as senior - that Sudan was preparing to sign an agreement to normalize relations with Tel Aviv.

Sudan agreed to take steps to normalize relations with Israel in a 2020 agreement brokered by the government of former US President Donald Trump, in addition to mediating normalization agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco.
