The police were alerted shortly before two o'clock on Wednesday night by residents nearby who heard gunfire on the street in central Södertälje.

According to police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl, there were several people inside the apartment when shots were fired at the door.

- There were people in the apartment but no one was hit by any shots, says Daniel Wikdahl.

Not an isolated incident

He does not want to say anything about who the people in the apartment are or whether they are already known to the police.

- But we do not see this as an isolated incident.

We suspect that it is related to other serious crimes we have dealt with in the past in the Stockholm area, says Wikdahl.

According to information to SVT, the shooting during the night is aimed at a man who has previously been arrested for being behind the weekend's explosion in Uppland's Väsby.

An operation was launched to find the person or persons involved in the shooting.

Among other things, a helicopter was used in the search for possible perpetrators.

No arrests yet

No one has yet been detained.

The police have set up cordons around the crime scene and are taking investigative measures such as securing tracks and knocking on doors.

The police are also investigating whether there may be footage that could contribute to the investigation.

- This has taken place in central Södertälje and there are cameras there.

What they have managed to capture that we can benefit from remains to be seen, says Daniel Wikdahl.

The incident is classified as attempted murder and aggravated weapons offences.

Last week, shots were fired at an apartment in central Södertälje.

But those shots are believed to have been fired at the wrong door.

According to information to SVT, the real target is a famous rapper.
