Russia threatened Israel with a military retaliation yesterday if it delivered weapons to Ukraine, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was "studying this matter."

"With regard to the delivery of weapons to Ukraine, we do not classify countries according to geography," Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said.

We say that all countries that deliver weapons must understand that we will consider these weapons as legitimate targets for Russian forces.

Zakharova denounced the "absurd" statements made by French President Emmanuel Macron, in which he considered that supplying Ukraine with specific weapons does not constitute an escalation of the conflict.

Earlier, the Kremlin said yesterday that the longer-range missiles, which were said to be part of an upcoming package of US military aid to Ukraine, would "exacerbate" the conflict, but would not change its course.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russian President Vladimir Putin had no plans to hold talks with his US counterpart, Joe Biden.

The $2.2 billion US military aid package is expected to include longer-range missiles for the first time, two US officials familiar with the matter said Tuesday.

These missiles will allow Ukraine to carry out strikes deep in the territory controlled by Russia.

Kyiv has said it intends to take back all of its territory by force, including Crimea, which was previously annexed by Russia.

When asked about the new aid package, Peskov said, "Yes.

This is a direct way to escalate the tension and to increase the level of escalation, we can see that.

This requires additional efforts from us, but again, this will not change the course of events.

The special military operation will continue.

This comes at a time when Ukrainian officials announced, yesterday, that Russia is amassing its military force in the Luhansk region, while Kyiv suspects that it is preparing to launch an attack there in the coming weeks, as the first anniversary of the war approaches.
