For the past few months, pharmacists in Crépy-en-Valois (Oise) have had to be wary of every prescription presented to them.

Several couples have already tried to obtain diabetes medications such as FreeStyle sensors, insulin or Ozempic using fake prescriptions, says

Courrier Picard

.

These treatments cost around 40 euros per box and, according to the manager of a pharmacy in the department, a person with diabetes would need two boxes per month.

The fake medical prescriptions used often look alike and bear the name of a doctor whose identity has been impersonated or invented.

The practice would, on the other hand, be quickly identifiable since the fraudsters often have neither vital card nor social security certificate.

The latest embezzlement would aim to fuel trafficking and resales on the black market, estimated the gendarmes.

In recent months, five people have been arrested for acts of this type.

Made aware of the risks by the gendarmes, pharmacists are invited to be extra careful and do not hesitate to contact prescribing doctors in case of doubt.
