Stoltenberg and Hayashi also exchanged views on the situation in the Indo-Pacific region.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko met with Japanese Ambassador to Russia Toyohisa Kozuki for a substantive conversation on the most pressing issues of bilateral relations. 

On January 27, the Japanese government banned the export of radioactive materials, vaccines and medical devices, as well as robots to Russia, as part of a new package of anti-Russian sanctions.
