He lives in the so-called star houses in the Rosta area in Örebro.

Inflation has made him take the step of becoming a vegetarian.

But the money from the pawnshops does not go to food.

- I put the money aside in case something happens, he says.

Almost a third of the country's inhabitants live in tenements.

They also belong to those with the smallest margins in their economy and now households are severely affected by inflation.

In the center of Rosta, the recession is felt.

There are fewer guests at the restaurant and the bicycle dealer has not experienced a worse January.

But one business is doing better than usual, a sewing studio, which also makes clothes.

And that has brought more customers. 

- They cook more than they shop.

Before it was just a little, but it has become more and more, says Anette Ekström.  

But some of the customers are noticeably short of money. 

- Then I usually say that I take half.
