From today (the 1st), China has started testing for the coronavirus on arrivals from South Korea.

However, only foreigners, including Koreans, were tested, excluding Chinese nationals, and if they tested positive, they were ordered to quarantine at home or in a facility.

As announced by the Chinese quarantine authorities, from today, people arriving from South Korea will be tested for COVID-19 after entering the country.

This morning, PCR tests were conducted on Korean-bound flights arriving in Yanji, Nanjing, and Hangzhou.

If positive, they were asked to self-quarantine or facility quarantine.

Among those arriving from Korea, only Chinese nationals were not tested, and only foreign nationals, including Koreans, were tested for COVID-19.

The fact that the Chinese were excluded from the inspection is interpreted as revealing that this measure was a retaliatory measure against South Korea, not a strengthening of quarantine.

[Maoning/Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson (Yesterday): China resolutely opposes (discriminatory measures against China) and has reasons to take necessary equal measures.]

Currently, Korea tests all entrants from China regardless of nationality for COVID-19. is being carried out.

Previously, when the Korean government stopped issuing short-term visas to Korea except for some purposes such as diplomacy and official affairs on the 2nd of last month, China stopped issuing short-term visas to South Koreans to China and excluded Korea from the transit visa waiver program.

Then, when the Korean government extended the visa issuance restriction for Chinese to the 28th of this month, it came up with an additional measure of corona inspection for entrants from Korea.
