It is the company Holmen Energi AB that has applied for the detailed plan.

They want to build a holiday home area north of existing buildings in Björnrike.

The two properties concerned are owned by Holmen.

The company wants to build around forty new houses at Björnrike's alpine ski system.

A dissenting Environment and Building Committee adopted the detailed plan in September 2022. The officials had proposed that the plan should first undergo a strategic environmental assessment, based on the national interest of reindeer husbandry in the area, but the majority of the committee wanted to adopt the plan instead.

The County Administrative Board then canceled the plan, citing the fact that it risks making it difficult for reindeer husbandry.

Härjedalen municipality has now appealed to the government.
