And the government's internal investigation will examine the possibilities of abolishing the current retirement allowance for employees in sectors such as healthcare, education and care who cannot work from home.

A reference group with representatives of the Riksdag's parties will also follow the government's investigation, according to Tenje.

Sometimes things go fast even in politics.

As recently as last week, the government decided to shut down the investigation that the previous S-led government had appointed to make the grace period deduction, which replaced the grace period in case of illness in 2019, more fair.

SD: "Important question"

It was to be replaced by an internal investigation.

But the protests were extensive, including from the government's partner party, the Sweden Democrats.

The SD went to the polls to abolish qualifying deductions for people in so-called close contact occupations, for example for healthcare and school staff.
