An evening of drinking that ends in barbarism.

This is the particularly sordid case which has been on trial since Thursday before the Vendée Assize Court in La Roche-sur-Yon.

Two men aged 27 and 33 were in the dock for the murder of a 56-year-old man found dead in his apartment on June 23, 2019 in Les Sables d'Olonne, reports

The day before, the victim had spent the afternoon drinking alcohol with his roommate.

The latter was accompanied by one of his friends, who was in fact his cocaine supplier.

As the evening progressed, an altercation broke out between the protagonists.

The victim beaten for several hours

For several hours, the two accused had beaten the 50-year-old.

The autopsy of the body will reveal "fifty-four injuries, mainly to the face, not counting the internal bleeding", according to

The victim had also been strangled and had a stubbed out cigarette in the navel.

Facts of "animal violence", said the Advocate General during the hearing.

After three days of trial, the two individuals were sentenced respectively to 17 and 30 years' imprisonment.
