An American movie called “Savage Salvation” was finally shown, starring Robert De Niro, John Malkovich, and the obscure actor Jack Huston.

And the film appeared and disappeared in the blink of an eye, without generating large or small revenues.

His page on the “Rotten Tomatoes” website contains only the audience’s opinion, which gave him a rating of only 26%, while critics declined to evaluate it, and on the “IMDb” website - which specializes in cinema - achieved an average 4.6 out of 10, according to the rating of a thousand viewers only.

There are many question marks about the movie "The Savage Redemption";

For example, why would a star-winning star like Robert De Niro and another highly regarded star like John Malkovich engage in something that seems so mediocre?

#SavageSalvation has been done before.

The storyline, the love lost, the revenge sought & unexpected reveal.

It was a blasé retelling of what we have seen before & with a cast that had the potential to bring more to the table.

Won't recommend watching it.

"Barbaric Salvation"...a scenario of absurdity!

The movie “Savage Redemption” takes place in a small American town, in which we meet John Shelby (Jack Huston), a drug addict who works in a factory, and his life is radically transformed when he asks for the hand of his girlfriend, Ruby (Willa Fitzgerald), and they decide to quit addiction and start A new life, and they do so until one of the drug dealers pressures the girl, who is alone, deceiving her that John has returned to addiction again, so she dies of an overdose.

After the death of his fiancée, Shalaby decides to take revenge on everyone who contributed to her death, and begins to track every member of the chain of drug distribution and sale, from the bottom to the top, leaving behind a bloodbath all over the town, so Sheriff Sharker (Robert De Niro) chases him before the violence increases. And he destroys himself in the midst of this barbaric redemption.

The story of the movie is absolutely absurd;

What is the purpose of tracking down and killing this chain of drug dealers?

After all, no single individual will be able to eliminate this trade that is so widespread in the United States.

But even if we overlook the unreasonable motive;

The division of the scenario itself was illogical by setting the stage for the central event of the film and the journey of revenge that lasted more than 40 minutes, and without a real establishment of any of the characters, whether the hero, the heroine or the sheriff.

During this period, the viewer only followed the fiancé's journey in getting rid of drugs, while trying to poeticize the relationship.

If we put that aside, we find that there is a whole family whose members appeared at the beginning of the film, and they are the relatives of the girl Ruby, including her sister’s husband, John Malkovich, and they had no presence after that in the events, as well as with regard to the hero’s physical capabilities and his experience in dealing with weapons and confronting the most powerful dealers Simply drugs.

This absurd scenario was accompanied by a modest directing by director Randall Emmett in his second directorial work, after his movie “Midnight in the Switchgrass”, which also constituted a puzzle for movie lovers, due to the participation of veteran actor Bruce Willis in such a modest work, It received a rating of only 8% on the "Rotten Tomatoes" website, and its stars did not attend its first movie show.

Spotless march and black dots

Robert De Niro is admired as one of the finest acting talents in the seventh art, for his extraordinary ability to embody the most memorable movie characters, from Jack LaMotta in "Raging Bull" or a young Vito Corleone in "Part Two" The Godfather, or his various films with his artistic journey companion Martin Scorsese, to become one of the most prominent figures in the history of cinema.

Over several decades, De Niro succeeded in coloring and presenting different roles and smart choices, even in non-iconic films, such as “The Intern”, a comedy in which the actor plays the role of a 70-year-old retiree who becomes an apprentice in a new e-commerce company. Fashion run by Anne Hathaway.

Here, we are not in a character at the level of Vito Corleone, but the film was able to reach audiences and critics with the intelligence of the script and the charisma of De Niro.

Over the past decade or so, Robert De Niro has appeared in a number of films that don't necessarily capitalize on his talents.

In fact, when one looks at the wide area of his career, which amounted to more than 95 films, he notes that his masterpieces were in the seventies, eighties and nineties of the twentieth century, while his career witnessed a major break in the 21st century.

Among the average films, there is a group of very modest films, including "Dirty Grandpa" in 2016, which received a 10% rating on the "Rotten Tomatoes" website.

Savage Redemption is one of Robert De Niro's worst films.

Apart from the modest level of the film, his role was very small, compared to the space occupied by the obscure actor Jack Huston, with a single attempt to give some humanity to the unilateral character by hinting at a friendship between the son of Sheriff Church and the hero John Shelby that makes him wish the survival of the avenger and seek to save him from himself.

The career of any actor is subject to setbacks due to bad choices, and Robert De Niro is not immune to that, and this year the audience is awaiting his return with his latest movie with Martin Scorsese, "Killers of the Flower Moon", which will co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.

As for the movie "The Savage Redemption", after a few years it will become nothing but a black point in a march that will remain legendary.
