Member of the Erignac commando who participated in the assassination of the prefect, sentenced to life imprisonment in 2003, Pierre Alessandri will benefit from an adjustment of sentence.

He is now on probation.

The Paris Court of Appeal on Tuesday granted the request for an adjustment of the sentence of Pierre Alessandri, sentenced to life imprisonment in 2003 for the assassination in Corsica of the prefect Claude Erignac and detained for almost 24 years, announced the Prosecutor General.

Pierre Alessandri, who had been released since 2017 after serving his eighteen-year security period, had suffered three refusals from the courts to grant him the benefit of a probationary semi-freedom measure for conditional release.

One of these refusal decisions had been canceled in October by the Court of Cassation, returning the case to be examined again by the Court of Appeal.
