According to the army staff, an attack carried out by "residual elements of armed groups" killed at least thirteen people in northern Burkina Faso on Monday 30 January.

The attack occurred on Monday afternoon in Burkina's northern Sahel region, according to an army statement released on Tuesday.
This document refers to a "
terrorist attack
" against gendarmes and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, auxiliaries of the Burkinabè army, stationed in Falagountou, a locality located not far from the border with Niger.
For the staff, the perpetrators of the attack are "
residual elements of the armed groups
" who "
undertook to blindly attack the populations
" after being "
defeated a few weeks ago by the forces engaged in the reconquest of the national territory
”.
The army specifies that “
fifteen bodies of terrorists were found during search operations
.

A deadly month of January
On Thursday January 25, at least a dozen civilians were
killed in two attacks in Dassa
, in the center-west of Burkina, about 140 kilometers from Ouagadougou.
A week earlier, the north of the country suffered a
series of deadly attacks

The army staff calls on Tuesday "
the populations not to be discouraged by an enemy at bay and to mobilize more than ever behind the Defense and Security Forces and the VDP engaged in the reconquest of the territory
