The Pentagon announced the successful test flight of a hypersonic missile

“The hypersonic air-breathing version of the Lockheed Martin missile completed the program, achieving all of its original goals,” the Pentagon said.

The launch was the final test flight of the Hypersonic Airborne Weapons Project (HAWC).

During the test, the rocket flew at speeds above Mach 5 (6125 km / h) at an altitude of more than 60 thousand feet (18.3 km) for a distance of 300 nautical miles (about 555.6 km).
