The publication recalled that in the Arctic there are such NATO allies as Norway, "which the United States will be obliged to support in the event of a confrontation."
Earlier, Politico magazine columnist Kenneth Rosen expressed the opinion that Russia has been ahead of the United States in the struggle for the Arctic region over the past two decades.
In April, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that virtually all areas of Russia's security are concentrated in the Arctic.
