Only 16 percent of all women who gave birth vaginally at Akademiska sjukhusset in 2021 managed completely without any kind of stretch marks.

After talking to the majority of affected women, the midwives Stina Liljeberg and Karin Hagberg have taken the initiative for a rupture clinic.

- Many of the women have problems and find it difficult to find the right way into care, says Karin Hagberg.

Works preventively

At the new reception, which starts in February, the women will receive an initial assessment.

- It can be about confirming a normal healing process, or making sure they get more specialized help if needed, says Stina Liljeberg.

Wouldn't it have been better to invest in preventive work instead?

- We have invested and are already working preventively on several different levels, says Stina Liljeberg.

In the clip, you will hear what help women can get at the reception.

The reception, which receives state support, will be part of the National Board of Health and Welfare's work to strengthen care for women before, during and after childbirth.

Contact your midwife

In case of discomfort after childbirth, Stina Liljeberg advises women to first contact a midwife.

- The staff can, in turn, contact us at Bristingsmottagningen.

But it is also possible to come to the reception via, for example, the Childbirth Office or to receive a summons via the rupture register.
