Japan considers unacceptable position of Russia on fishing in the Kuriles

“We urge the Russian side to respond to intergovernmental consultations as soon as possible so that fishing can begin as soon as possible,” the Japanese politician said.

Earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced his desire to resume humanitarian exchanges with Russia over the Kuril Islands.

It was also reported that Russia would not hold consultations with Tokyo on fishing off the South Kuriles.
