After working at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Mr. Seki joined Nidec in 2020 and became CEO in 2021, succeeding Chairman Shigenobu Nagamori.



However, he handed the job over to Mr Nagamori in April last year and was demoted, and resigned in September last year, citing responsibility for poor performance.



Hon Hai is the world's largest manufacturer of contracted products such as iPhones for Apple Inc. in the United States, but is making a full-scale entry into the EV business in an effort to diversify its business.



In addition to developing passenger car prototypes and chassis and platforms for EVs one after another, EV buses have already started operating as route buses.



Also, two years ago, it announced that it would consider establishing a joint venture with Nidec for the production and development of motor-related products for EVs.



Hong Hai invited Mr. Seki, who has a wealth of experience at an automobile manufacturer, to get the growing EV business on track.



Mr. Seki will become CSO = Chief Strategy Officer of the EV business on February 1st.
