DRC: fifteen dead in new attacks attributed to the ADF

In the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in Ituri, at least 15 villagers were killed on Sunday January 29 in raids against several localities in the territory of Irumu, on the border with Uganda.

These new attacks are attributed to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), one of the armed groups that bloody the region.

Among the victims are a dozen women and a child of about two years.

According to civil society, armed men targeted three villages simultaneously shortly before daybreak on Sunday, before being repelled by the army.

These localities are part of the chiefdom of Walese Vonkutu, about a hundred kilometers west of the provincial capital Bunia.

An area already bereaved two weeks ago: seven civilians had been killed there, in the attack on several villages, again attributed to the ADF.

The armed group has been very active since the beginning of the year in the territory of Beni, in the neighboring province of North Kivu.

The militiamen are held responsible for the Makugwe massacre, at least 23 dead, eight days ago, but also for the

attack against a church in Kasindi

, which killed at least 14 people on January 15.
