Czech police said that a parked taxi moved by mistake without a driver on board, and ran over a young woman on a street in Prague on Monday.

The woman died at the scene of the accident, after the car crushed her against the wall of a store, despite the provision of urgent medical assistance.

As the car began to slide down the steep street, it collided slightly with a tram, giving it extra speed.

The woman was run over after falling 100 metres.

The Police Criminal Investigation Department opened an investigation into the accident to find out why the parked car started moving on its own.

The accident occurred one kilometer from Prague Castle, a tourist attraction in the capital.
