A motorist, aged 20, is suspected of having tried to flee the police, on the night of Saturday to Sunday, in Montpellier (Hérault), reports France Bleu Hérault.

The young driver is accused of having run a red light and taken a one-way street, before trying to escape the police, who wanted to check him.

A mad chase then began between the motorist and the police, continues the station.

The young motorist is suspected of having taken the highway, towards Nîmes (Gard).

The exits were closed by the police.

The man was finally intercepted in the capital of Gard.

He had no points on his driver's license and was driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was taken into custody.
