The men of the RAID, this specialized service of the national police in risky interventions, have been present in the Bagatelle district in Toulouse since mid-afternoon.
"The alert was given that an individual was shooting from the 8th floor at passers-by, without causing injuries," said a spokeswoman for the Toulouse prosecutor's office.
The facts would have taken place on the side of the rue de Charente, from the balcony of an apartment.
The young man, suspected of being at the origin of the shots, would have taken refuge in his home according to the first information.
The area was sealed off by law enforcement.
