The World Health Organization (WHO) announced today (30th) local time that COVID-19 remains an international public health emergency.

As a result, the high-intensity alert level has continued for more than three years since the WHO declared an international public health emergency for Corona 19 in January 2020.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on the same day that he agreed with the recommendation of the WHO International Health Emergency Committee that the current situation of Corona 19 still meets the requirements of an international public health emergency.

Previously, the WHO International Health Emergency Committee held a meeting on the 27th and discussed whether to lift the emergency in light of the Corona 19 situation so far.

A public health emergency of international concern is the highest level of public health alert that WHO can issue.

If it is determined to be an international public health emergency, WHO will be able to strongly promote various research, funding, and international health measures to contain it.
