Prior to this, Constitutional Democratic Party leader Izumi told reporters in Tokyo, "How can we improve countermeasures against the declining birthrate? We should come to a conclusion as soon as possible about whether we really want to abolish income restrictions on child allowances." On the other hand, regarding the child allowance, in NHK's "Sunday Debate", Secretary-General Motegi of the Liberal Democratic Party expressed his desire to bring together the party in the direction of abolishing income restrictions, whereas Secretary-General Okada of the Constitutional Democratic Party said Pointing out that it was the Liberal Democratic Party that advocated the introduction of income restrictions in the past, Secretary-General Motegi said, "I regret it.
