Everything was to blame for grandfather Aurelio Marcos Bartual's fondness for precious stones.

This Valencian loved spending his free time among natural stones, comparing colors, investigating its structure... He was so passionate about this world that he decided to go further with his hobby and try to make it his livelihood. .

It was in 1942 when Joyería Marcos opened its doors at number 2 Calle Larios.

From the heart of Malaga and a few minutes from the sea, the adventure began.

Aurelio Marcos Bartual did not imagine the day he opened the doors to the public that his store would be 80 years old in 2022 and his grandson would be in charge of his legacy.

But it is like this.

With those eight decades behind it, Joyería Marcos inaugurated a larger and more renovated space on January 26.

The annexation of a local next to the current one culminates the expansion of this renovated store in the best corner of the main street of Malaga.

More showcases, more showcase... in short, more physical support to host new watch and jewelery brands for their customers.

At this stage, the Parisian house Cartier

joins

its offer already consolidated for years: Rolex, Tudor, Hublot, Tag Heuer, Longines, Hamilton and Gucci.

The French house Dinh Van is also incorporated into its catalogue, with its delicate pieces.

This new extension adds an important Rolex space: the universe of luxury and beauty, expanded, for anyone who wants to enter it.

This was explained by the current director and grandson of the founder, Aurelio Marcos Alarcón, who opened the doors of these facilities after the remodeling and welcomed 2023. Excited, he recounted future projects and challenges.

Also, he remembered that 2022 was a different and special year for them.

Marcos Jewelry was 80 years old;

eight decades of coming and going between counters, shop windows and showcases.

To bring beauty and excellent service closer, always with the focus on the best pieces, those that transcend generations.

He also recalled that it was the year in which his website was renewed: www.joyeriamarcos.com was reorganized after seven years of operation.

Although seven years pass in a breath, the reality is that it was in the middle of the previous decade that Joyería Marcos launched its website.

Aurelio Marcos, current director since 2008, understood that digital was not an option, one more possibility that could be considered or not.

If they wanted to keep the founder's imprint, innovative and unafraid of change, they knew they had to explore that channel.

After several tests, in 2015 they launched a website and online sales.

They were pioneers in distance distribution and, today, they are a benchmark in the sector.

Despite this leading position in the market and an increasingly broad client portfolio, Joyería Marcos undertook to renew this digital space to adapt it to current needs, in which the client needs to feel confident and protected during their purchase.

Today, Joyería Marcos occupies a leading position in its sector.

In 2020, the sector registered losses of more than 20% but Joyería Marcos withstood the challenge and fell only 8%.

That period was overcome when verifying that in 2021, they closed the year with an increase in their operations of 17% compared to 2019.

Aurelio Marcos took the opportunity to thank the attendees for their presence.

Among the guests could be seen Francisco de la Torre, mayor of Malaga;

Cédric Müller, general director of Rolex in Spain;

Blanca Panzano, CEO of LVMH Watches and Jewelry;

Marcos Vidal, director of Hublot Spain, and representatives of the Tudor, TAG Heuer, Longines and Gucci brands.

Other relevant figures who attended the inauguration were Federico Beltrán, president of Famadesa and the international artist Javier Calleja.

Friends, relatives and personalities from the city supported this new phase of Joyería Marcos, a sentimental memory of many of those present.

Because Joyería Marcos, from its privileged enclave on Calle Larios, maintains its position as a benchmark in the city. Grandfather Aurelio Marcos Bartual, of course, also has a lot of responsibility in this.

From his head came essential constructions such as number 2 of the Plaza de la Marina or the maritime building, the tallest in the city for a long time.

His heirs maintain their commitment to Malaga, for example, by sponsoring cultural initiatives such as the Teatro del Soho CaixaBank, the adventure of another illustrious Malaga native, the actor Antonio Banderas.

The truth is that Joyería Marcos, from its privileged corner, has attended the transformation of Malaga as an outstanding spectator.

The essence of a living city converges in Calle Larios, which shows itself to the world renewed and immersed in a transformation that has turned it into a

place to be

.

right now

almost

everything interesting happens in Malaga.

The approval of the Tech Park has meant a before and after that attracts thousands and thousands of qualified workers from all over the world.

Malaga is more than opportunities;

It is climate, the Mediterranean Sea, its food, its cultural appeal and its people.

Getting to the southernmost city of the South is easy.

The Pablo Ruiz Picasso airport is the fourth largest in the country and the AVE connects with Madrid in just two and a half hours.

What awaits the visitor there is simply unquantifiable.

Only those who have experienced it can understand it.

Aurelio Marcos Bartual would give the go-ahead to this lively and enthusiastic Málaga, in which he participated decisively.

His descendants know this and, therefore, they strive to maintain the imprint of his character in Marcos Jewelry.

Vision of the future, work, tenacity, ability to weigh risk and take on challenges have marked the trajectory of this business.

And so it will be for years to come.
