Marches attack on an Iranian military facility in Isfahan

Early Sunday morning, drones loaded with bombs targeted an Iranian military factory in the city of Isfahan, central Iran, causing some damage to the factory, according to the Iranian authorities.

Iran's Defense Ministry did not provide any information on who was suspected of carrying out the attack, which came as a separate refinery fire broke out in the country's northwest and a 5.9-magnitude earthquake nearby, killing two people.

Details are still scarce on the Isfahan attack, which took place around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

A statement issued by the Iranian Ministry of Defense stated that three drones were launched at the facility, two of which were successfully shot down.

The ministry said the third plane apparently succeeded in penetrating the building, causing "minor damage" to its roof, and no one was hurt.

In Washington, the Wall Street Journal reported, quoting US officials and people familiar with the matter, that Israel carried out a secret drone attack targeting a defense complex in Iran.

She added that the attack comes amid the United States and Israel's search for new ways to contain Iran's nuclear and military ambitions.

In a separate development, Iranian official media reported that a fire broke out at a motor oil refinery in the northwest region of the country early Sunday morning.

The fire occurred in an industrial area near the city of Azarshahr, according to reports.

Authorities say there were no deaths, and only a firefighter was injured.

It is not clear if there are any links between the two incidents.
