China wants to resume issuing short visas to Japanese people, which was suspended three weeks ago.

From "today" all diplomatic missions would again issue "normal visas" for Japanese citizens, the Chinese embassy in Tokyo said in a short online statement on Sunday.

On January 10, China suspended issuing visas to Japanese and South Koreans after both countries introduced entry restrictions due to the recent corona wave in the People's Republic.

Japan, for example, requires air travelers from China to test themselves for Corona before departure and upon arrival.

At the time, Beijing described the measures taken by both countries as “discriminatory”.

It was initially unclear whether China would resume issuing visas to South Koreans.

According to experts, the spread of the virus in China had also accelerated faster than expected due to the wave of travel that began in early January for the current Chinese New Year celebrations.

According to estimates by the leading epidemiologist Wu Zunyou from the National Health Department (CDC), up to 80 percent of all Chinese are likely to have been infected with the virus - more than a billion.

According to calculations, the number of deaths should have reached its highest level on Thursday at 36,000 a day.

According to these estimates, 848,000 people may have died since the beginning of December.
