More than 50 people died in a series of accidents in Pakistan where buses crashed and boats capsized.

According to Pakistani media and foreign media, on the morning of the 29th, a bus carrying 48 passengers deviated from the road and fell under a bridge while making a U-turn in Las Vela Province, Balochistan Province, southwestern Pakistan.

At least 41 people died in the accident and two were rescued.

The remaining passengers are still being checked.

Hamza Anjum, a district official, said the bus was traveling overnight from Quetta in Balochistan to the southern port city of Karachi.

He also explained that the death toll could rise as the bus crashed and caught fire.

Pakistan has poor road conditions, many old vehicles, and frequent violations of traffic rules, leading to frequent major traffic accidents.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 27,000 people died in road accidents in Pakistan in 2018 alone.

At least 10 people were killed when a boat capsized on Lake Thanda in Khyber Pakhtunkwa state in northeastern Pakistan.

At the time of the accident, there were 25 to 30 students and teachers on board, and the students were between the ages of 12 and 20.

Local authorities are conducting rescue operations with 7 ambulances and 4 boats.

AFP reported that Pakistan has many old and overloaded ships, so capsizing accidents are frequent. However, conservative social customs prevent women from learning to swim, and drowning accidents are particularly common because women cannot move in the water because of their full-length clothes.
