A fire ravaged this Sunday, January 29, the Sankar-yaaré market, one of the largest in Ouagadougou.

The exact origin of the fire is not known, but according to witnesses, strong explosions preceded the flames.

When it exploded, I was there, we ran, we went out.

And I came back to see.

The fire started and then it exploded a 2nd time and a 3rd time.

We tried to call the fire brigade, it took really long before they came

After several hours, the firefighters were able to control the fire, with the help of the merchants.

No victims to deplore according to the government.

But hundreds of shops went up in smoke.

Everything is burned.

There were a lot of losses, damage.

But thank God, there was no human loss.

An investigation will be opened to determine the causes of the tragedy.
