An Indian minister died of a gunshot wound to the heart

The Minister of Health and Family Welfare of the Indian state of Odisha, Napa Kishore Das, died after struggling for several hours from a gunshot wound after being shot by a policeman.

According to the Indian "Press Trust of India" agency, a team of doctors tried to treat him, after he was flown to hospital from Jharsugada to Bhubaneshwar.

Das, 60, was shot in the heart in Prajrajnagar town around 1pm when the minister was on his way to attend an event in the town.
