The Pas-de-Calais firefighters had to deploy major resources this Sunday.
They were called around 6:30 a.m. for a serious fire in a pigsty in Transloy, a few kilometers from the Somme.
Inside the 350 square meter building which collapsed, a hundred pigs and piglets were saved, reports La Voix du Nord.
But two hundred perished.
Four lances were finally needed to put out the flames and prevent them from spreading to neighboring buildings.
The origin of the fire could come from the maternity ward of the pigsty, according to the regional daily.
