A report prepared by the Saudi Al-Ikhbariya channel highlighted the encroachment on the facilities of some mosques in the Kingdom by imams and muezzins who were caught renting out these facilities for more than half a million riyals.

The Al-Ikhbariya report showed the moment the violating residences were seized in a mosque, which had been rented for many years, while a number of tenants reported that they were giving money to the imam.

The head of monitoring and follow-up at the Facilities Protection Unit in Makkah, Abdul Rahman Al-Harthy, said that the rent money is obtained by a person who claims to be supervising or managing, which is contrary to all the ministry's regulations.

Al-Harthy indicated that the number of apartments that were seized in the mosque is about 9 apartments, in addition to 7 rooms that are toilets and ablution places, and they were converted into rooms for rent, in addition to that electricity and water are borne by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

In the same context, another mosque was seized, and the imam works as an academic in a Saudi university, and rents rooms in violation, according to the "Al-Marsad".

The head of field missions in the areas of Islamic affairs, Suleiman Al-Zouman, said that the imam is an academic doctor and says that he is affiliated with this mosque and refuses to be an official employee of the ministry, but this does not absolve him from responsibility, indicating that he turned the lighthouse into a room, and also part of the imam’s entrance was converted. into rooms and rent them to laborers, and a rented property as a school for a community.

And he continued: The imam says that he is a muhtasib who does not want to apply for an official job, because he does not want all these investments to be discovered.

The channel's correspondent said that the money exceeds half a million, in addition to the electricity consumption, which amounted to more than 3 million riyals.

The correspondent added: Another imam of the mosque took advantage of one of the places in the mosque and turned it into a laundry, in addition to two shops, which led to inflated water and electricity bills and stopped service from the mosque until the bill reached 130 thousand riyals, then the imam asked to collect donations through an unidentified expatriate under the pretext of supplying Cisterns for the mosque, and he is the one who, with his investments, caused the suspension of mosque services.
