In order to prepare for the so-called "information warfare" such as spreading false information on SNS, the government will set up a special department in the Cabinet Secretariat in April next year and is making adjustments to strengthen countermeasures.

The international community has pointed out the threat of so-called "information warfare," in which false information is spread on social media to induce public opinion and confuse society. There is a view that the act is repeated.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno has pointed out that ``the spread of disinformation is not only a threat to universal values, but may also have a negative impact on security.'' In order to prepare for a possible situation, a specialized department will be established in the Cabinet Secretariat in April next year, and coordination is underway to strengthen countermeasures.

The government envisions gathering highly specialized human resources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office, etc., to quickly identify false information on SNS, and to disseminate correct information.
