The legal dispute over the planned construction area Vorderheide in Hofheim is over.

The Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig has ruled against the plans for development.

The Hessian Administrative Court in Kassel had already ruled in this sense.

The federal judges have rejected an application by the city of Hofheim for revision.

The judgment from Kassel, that the area may not be built on for reasons of nature conservation, remains in place.

This was announced by the Bund für Umwelt- und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND).

The city of Hofheim confirmed the court decision on request.

The legal battle had dragged on since 2011.

The BUND had sued against the plans for a building area at the foot of the chapel hill.

On the northern edge of the core city, single-family houses were planned on generously proportioned lots.

So far there have been meadow orchards at this point.

The judges in Kassel banned the development because a rare bird, the common redstart, lives in the area.

Mayor Christian Vogt (CDU) continued the legal dispute and turned to the Federal Administrative Court.

The four factions of SPD, Greens, Citizens for Hofheim and Left had already called for the construction plans to be abandoned last year.
