In Burkina Faso, several social organizations demonstrated this Saturday, January 28, at Place de la Nation in Ouagadougou, to support the ongoing transition.

This transition support gathering was also intended to support the Defense and Security Forces, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland as well as the major decisions of the transitional government.

Burkinabè and Russian flags in hand, the demonstrators came out at the call of several civil society organizations to support the positions of the transitional president, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

“

The people no longer want France, nor the French army on their territory.

Even if Ibrahim [Traoré] today decides that Barkhane stays, that Saber stays, the people will say no.

Ibrahim has no choice, the president has no choice.

It is the choice of the people that he will follow

 ,” said a protester.

For Frank Calvin Ramdé, member of the organizing committee, this demonstration is the sign of their revolt and other gatherings will follow: “

We urge him to always consider the people as his compass.

We will support him.

We will always denounce what we do not want.

Whatever happens, we assume

 ,” says Frank Calvin.

For some demonstrators, this rally is not only directed against French politics.

It is also a call for reform.

“

It is not an anti-French feeling, it is rather an awakening of conscience for our dignity and, first of all, our survival.

Its very important.

We bring our support to the transition so that real reforms can be carried out for peace, solidarity and social cohesion in Burkina Faso

,” said Abdoul Karim Sempebgo.

Muslim prayers were said for the smooth running of the transition in Burkina Faso, Mali and Guinea.
