Get away from the city lights on a starry night and you can see the comet passing across the sky right now.

That's according to Andreas Korn, lecturer in astronomy and physics at Uppsala University.

- It is very exciting to see the comet move among the stars, he says.

So - how do I go about seeing the comet?

- Look for the Little Bear constellation in the sky on a clear night and you can see the comet shining.

Feel free to bring binoculars of some kind to be able to see it even better, says Andreas Korn.

Tens of millions of kilometers away

The comet hardly moves close to Earth, but still close enough to our solar system to have caught fire and thus become visible.

The "tail" that can be seen after the comet is the gas emitted when the comet is heated.

- But it can be difficult to see the comet's tail in this case, we are not quite at the right angle for that, says Andreas Korn, lecturer in astronomy and physics at Uppsala University.
