A years-old conflict is still ongoing.

On Monday, the municipal council will take a position on the demand from around 30 residents in Högvalta: to not have to connect their properties to the municipal water and sewage network.

According to the municipal councilor in Arvika, Peter Söderström (S), it is not legally possible to accommodate them.

Mandatory requirements

There is an order from the County Board that the municipality must determine the area of VA operations.

- It is imperative, we have to do what the County Administrative Board says.

The investment costs are estimated to be at least 40 million and for the individual households it is about costs of 200,000, perhaps 300,000 kroner.

Lars Matthiessen, who lives in the area, says that there is nothing to indicate that the water is dangerous to health or that the drains are not working.

- We cannot see a reasonable basis for having a municipal VA.

False claims

Birgitta Nordström claims that the municipality's previous decision was based on incorrect statements from Arvika municipality regarding whether the County Administrative Board's order was tried in court or not.

According to Peter Söderström, the incorrect wording was a misunderstanding.
