According to Israel's military, three of the Palestinian rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system.

One rocket landed in an uninhabited area and one reportedly touched down inside Gaza.

There are no reports yet of casualties or injuries in the airstrikes against Gaza on Friday.

Security sources in the extreme Islamist movement Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, told AFP there had been 15 attacks on military targets but with no reported casualties.

On Thursday, at least nine Palestinians were said to have been killed in connection with an Israeli military operation in the West Bank.

After the operation, the Palestinian authorities break security cooperation with Israel.

"Security cooperation with the Israeli occupation government no longer exists," said a statement from Mahmoud Abbas' office.
