Joe Biden intends to announce his decision to run for President of the United States in 2024.

Biden and the National Committee of the US Democratic Party will soon hold meetings in New York and Philadelphia with donors ready to provide funds for his new election campaign, agency sources said.

In addition, according to them, the collection of funds for the re-election of the incumbent US president will be significantly increased in the spring.

“We were told to expect intensified fundraising efforts (for the presidential campaign. -

) in March-April,” Reuters quotes one of the sponsors who helped Biden raise funds in 2020.

Reuters claims that Joe Biden will be able to raise more funds for his new election campaign than any other politician in US history, recalling that during the 2020 election, the Democrat received more than $ 1 billion from sponsors to support his campaign.

It is expected that the 46th President of the United States will announce the decision to fight again for the seat of the owner of the White House after the annual appeal to both houses of the US Congress, which is scheduled for February 7.

Earlier, Biden administration officials have already announced the intention of the current US president to be elected for a second term.

So, in early January, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced this, saying that Biden was going to participate in the elections again and would soon announce the decision.

Candidate Fatigue

It is worth noting that during 2022, opinion polls regularly showed that the majority of Democratic Party voters do not support Biden's idea of ​​running for a second term.

So, according to the results of a July poll by The New York Times and Siena College University, 64% of Democrats would not like Biden's nomination as a candidate for the presidency of the United States.

At the same time, 33% of respondents said that they would prefer to see another candidate instead of him precisely because of the age of the incumbent president.

In turn, 32% of respondents noted the unsatisfactory work of the Democrat as head of state, another 10% considered Biden not a progressive enough politician.

The rest of the respondents cited his cognitive abilities, his inability to win elections, as well as his position on various domestic political issues as reasons for not trusting the president's candidacy.

According to the poll, 94% of Democrats under the age of 30 reported that they would prefer (to see. -

A similar attitude towards the intention of the head of the White House to run for a second term remained until the end of 2022.

So, according to a December poll by CNN, 59% of registered Democrats and supporters of the Democratic Party would not like to see Biden as a participant in the next presidential race.

It is worth noting that similar sentiments also reign in the Republican clan: according to a CNN poll, 62% of Republicans polled have a similar opinion regarding former President Donald Trump.

Recall that the billionaire officially announced his participation in the 2024 elections in November 2022.

Joe Biden's position improved slightly in early 2023.

At the same time, 38% of Democrats and independent voters would like to see Joe Biden again as their candidate, another 23% have not decided on an answer.

Newsweek notes that Biden was prevented from strengthening his position by the recent scandal with secret documents that erupted after they were discovered first at the Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, and then in the personal garage and presidential residence in Delaware.

The found papers marked "secret" date back to Biden's tenure as vice president, and their removal outside the White House is a flagrant violation of the rules for using classified documents.

At the same time, Donald Trump was also previously accused of improper storage of classified documents: last year, investigators conducted a search and found a batch of classified documents at his residence in Florida.

Then Trump's opponents called for punishment to deprive him of the right to continue to hold public office.

The results of the latest opinion polls indicate that both Democrats and Republicans are seriously tired of their age and scandalous candidates and do not want a repeat of the 2020 elections, which had an extremely negative impact on the political stability of the United States, an expert from the International Institute for Humanitarian and Political Studies said in a conversation with RT Vladimir Bruter.

“Voters do not want Joe Biden and Donald Trump to be candidates from their parties again.

This is clearly not what both the Democratic and Republican elites want.

But if the Republican Party has someone to replace Donald Trump, then the Democrats have no such options yet.

Joe Biden remains the only compromise figure that is known to US voters at the federal level, ”the expert explained.

"Crisis"

The intention of Biden and his entourage to re-participate in the 2024 elections speaks of a crisis in the US Democratic Party, says Pavel Feldman, associate professor of the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, candidate of political sciences.  

“This reflects the crisis situation of the Democrats, who cannot solve the problem with cadres and radical politicians in their party.

Some of them gravitate toward leftist, one might even say, Bolshevik ideas, while others base their entire activities solely on the support of minorities and LGBT communities.

Against the general party background, even such an elderly and not always sober-minded candidate as Biden looks like a compromise figure for the elites and relatively suits everyone, ”the political scientist said.

At the same time, one should not forget about Biden's very advanced age, Pavel Feldman recalled.

“Biden’s physical and intellectual condition is depressing.

But, on the other hand, it is precisely by his weakness and confusion that he suits the American financial and industrial elite, since other people make key decisions for him.

Biden himself, obviously, believes that, apart from him, no one can help the US Democratic Party win the next election.

Perhaps he considers himself the savior of the country from the right-wing conservatives led by Trump coming to power.

This motivates him to participate in the elections again at such a respectable age and in poor health, ”explained the interlocutor of RT.

It is highly likely that the 2024 elections will again turn into a show with Trump and Biden, Pavel Feldman believes.

However, for revenge, Trump will first have to bypass his fellow party members with high political ambitions.

“For Donald Trump himself, the paramount task in this election will be to win the primaries.

Strange as it may seem, he will meet the most powerful resistance from his fellow Republicans.

Unlike the US Democratic Party, several interesting candidates have appeared in their ranks in recent years, who have already successfully performed in congressional elections, the Senate and in races for governor's seats.

Trump himself raised some as political figures.
