An Iranian national archer went blind in one eye during an anti-government protest, but said he had "no regrets".

On the 24th local time, foreign media such as CBS and Iran International reported that Iranian archer Kosar Koshnudikia lost her left eye after being shot by security forces during her protest.

"I don't regret being there on that day, at that hour," said Kosar, who participated in a hijab protest in Kermanshah in western Iran in early December.

"At the time, he was shot three times in his right hand and one in his left eye," he said.

“I am no longer saddened by what has already happened,” Kosar added.

Although she won a silver medal at the 2021 Asian Archery Championships'Compound - Women's Team', she did not reveal in an interview that day whether she could make a comeback as an archer in the future.

Also, Norwegian-based human rights group Hengaw said, "Despite multiple surgeries, Kosar has permanently lost sight in his left eye."

Mahsa Amini, 22, died in custody in Iran in September last year after being arrested by patrols for not wearing the hijab properly.

This has spread to widespread anti-government protests, and citizens in major Iranian cities, including Tehran, have been acting for over four months.

Meanwhile, international human rights group Amnesty International and other human rights groups criticized the incident, saying that "Iranian security forces fired live ammunition and metal pellets at close range during the suppression of the protests, wounding a number of protesters."
