A missile attack was underway on Thursday morning against Ukraine, targeted by "

more than thirty Russian missiles

", the spokesman for the Ukrainian air force said on television.

"

Six Tu-95s took off from the Murmansk region and launched missiles

," said Yuri Ignat, spokesman for the Ukrainian air force.

A non-residential building was hit in the Holosiivsky district of Kyiv on Thursday morning, killing one person and injuring two others, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.

According to the capital's military administration, a missile fragment fell on the neighborhood and killed a 55-year-old man.

Vitali Klitschko also said that explosions had taken place in the Dniprovsk district, on the left bank of kyiv.

An explosion in Kiev!

Stay in the shelters

, ”he said earlier on Telegram the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko.

For its part, the Kiev military administration reported "

more than 15 Russian cruise missiles

" having targeted the city, while adding that all of them had been shot down.

Power cuts

Other regions were hit by Russian strikes in the morning.

Missiles notably struck in the Odessa region.

"

Two crucial energy infrastructure sites in the Odessa region were damaged

," the head of the Odessa district military administration said in a statement.

The strike did not cause any injuries, he said, calling on the inhabitants of the city to stay in the shelters.

As a result of these attacks, “ emergency

” power cuts

were triggered Thursday morning in Kiev and in three regions, announced the private electricity company DTEK.

It is a preventive measure that will prevent significant damage to electrical infrastructure if enemy missiles reach their target

,” the group said on Telegram.

Besides the capital, the cuts are in effect in its region as well as those of Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk, according to DTEK.

This new wave of Russian strikes seems to be Moscow's military response to the announcement of the dispatch of heavy tanks by allied countries of Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov returned to these tank delivery announcements.

And according to him, these correspond to “

a direct engagement in the conflict

” of the countries which support Kiev.

A point of view totally opposed to that of the allied countries of Ukraine who speak of defensive and non-offensive weapons.
