A lifeless body was found this past January 12 on the floor of a house in Son Servera, a Majorcan town.

It was Jonathan M., who lay next to the corpses of his two dogs,

in an advanced state of decomposition

.

Police sources tell this newspaper that he could have been dead for a month and a half, that

he showed no signs of violence

and that, according to the first hypotheses, he could have taken his own life.

Jonathan, a policeman by profession, had voluntarily requested an exchange to go to work on this island, but for many years he carried out his activity in Madrid, within the municipal body.

It was in the capital where he met Marta Higueras, a councilor for the Mixed Group, and also where, as she reveals, she became

the main reason why he asked for an escort

.

She had felt harassed by him and she came to denounce him, getting him filed.

It all started on a December morning, a couple of years ago.

Higueras remembers that, around 03:00, he was startled by an unexpected call.

Concerned about the hours, she picked up: "He began to tell me very strange and unconnected things,

like 'I want to see you' or 'I'm going to see you at your house'

… I thought he was drunk and had confused the person."

He did not give it more importance, but the next morning he began to receive, from the same person, risque videos, mainly

of sadomasochism

, where "girls appeared to whom they did everything."

"They were horrible... I already

had their number saved in my diary

from years ago, back in 2016, when we collaborated together helping in a case of gender violence."

COMPLAINT BEFORE THE CONTROLLERS

From that moment on, "insistent calls at seven in the morning, irreproducible messages..." followed one another.

Until he got tired and decided

to report it to the local police officers.

He showed them everything received, the videos and the conversations, and the authorities, he says, called them both to testify.

"A file was opened and

the weapon was withdrawn

. I also asked for an escort, something they granted me," recalls Higueras, a gesture that "reassured" him.

Though his demons surface again, he reminisces about it, learning months later that Jonathan had his gun returned.

And even more since last September 8, when "after my complaints about corruption in the leadership of the Local Police, and I think that in retaliation, they withdrew my escort", despite the fact that Jonathan was already in Mallorca.

"

No one could know if he was here or there

," he says.

The one who became deputy mayor with Manuela Carmena tried "in every way" not to withdraw that protection since she felt very insecure.

"

He knew where he lived

. Before going out into the street, he would look to the left and right to see if he was there. Or when he arrived at night, he would look behind me in case they pushed me into my doorway. It was a great restlessness and uncertainty. I have lived in the Basque Country, where I was the Director General of Justice, and

I had to look under my car every day

to see if there was something. It is not the same, but I already have that state of alert incorporated", recalls Higueras .

After learning of Johnatan's death, the councilor affirms, she will no longer demand an escort because "the threat she had has disappeared", but she stresses that the Security delegate, Inmaculada Sanz, "

should apologize to me

because she told me 'what you want It is to ride in an official car. You must accept your mistake and be glad that nothing has happened. The threat, it has been seen,

was real

".

Without even understanding why the local agent was so fixated on her, Higueras thinks that "he was sick and needed psychological help."

"I feel sorry because in the end it has not been possible to help him, much more attention must be paid to mental health, and

on the other hand I feel a certain relief

," he says, concluding: "It is quite a frustration... It was clear that this person needed help for quite some time. If he committed suicide, which I am very sorry,

he could have done something else as well.

It wasn't a one-off outbreak, it was really wrong."
