The Thai government has recently suspended distribution of some nongshim Shin Ramyun Black Cup Ramen products in Taiwan where harmful ingredients have been detected.

The Food and Drug Administration of Thailand announced that it has suspended distribution of some products of 'Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black Tofu Kimchi Flavor Bowl' for consumer safety.

The Food and Drug Administration recalled a total of 3,040 products, including 480 products with expiration dates until the 4th of next month and 2,560 products with expiration dates until May 8, and are waiting for product analysis results.

This measure is in response to the detection of harmful ingredients in the product recently imported into Taiwan.

The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration said on the 17th that 0.075 milligrams of 'ethylene oxide' per kilogram was detected in the soup in a pesticide residue test for 'Shin Ramyun Black Tofu Kimchi Bowl'.

Taiwanese authorities announced that they would return or discard 1,128 kg of 1,000 boxes of this product because it did not meet the standards for pesticide residues.

In this regard, the manufacturer Nongshim announced that it would strengthen monitoring, saying that 2-chloroethanol, not ethylene oxide, was detected in products exported to Taiwan.

2-Chloroethanol is a harmful substance that can occur as a by-product of ethylene oxide, a pesticide ingredient.

It is known that Taiwan's announcement was because the amount of 2-chloroethanol detected was converted into ethylene oxide.
